Scholarships

Funds
are available from unclaimed capital credits and have
been authorized by the Board of Directors of Fall River
Electric Cooperative, Inc. to be used for scholarship
purposes. The funding of these scholarships will be
subject to the availability of funds on any given year.
Application for the scholarship will need to be made
annually and will be subject to the following guidelines.

| Amount of Scholarships |
The amount of scholarship funds for each school will be based on the number of Fall River Electric members, who reside in a particular school district. The amounts offered will be $500 for schools with up to 800 members in a school district, with like increments of $500 for every 800 members.

| High School Seniors |
- The student's parents or guardians must be active members of Fall River Electric Cooperative, either in their place of residence or business. (Also, see At-Large Scholarships.)
- The applicant must be a graduating senior with at least a 2.00 GPA or a GPA required by the school to be enrolled in.
- The student will write an essay between 250-500 words stating why they feel deserving of the scholarship and their educational and/or vocational goals. The selection committee may interview each applicant.
- School transcripts must be attached to all applications.
- Return no later than March 24, 2008 to Fall River REC, 1150 N 3400 E, Ashton, Idaho 83420.
- The scholarship money will not be issued until the successful recipient has enrolled into the school of their choice. Should the recipient choose not to attend the institution by January of the year following selection, the monies will then be awarded to another student or be cancelled.
- Scholarships will continue for an additional three years contingent upon receiving an application for each year with an acceptable GPA, and upon the availability of funds.

| At-Large Scholarships |
Two $500 At-Large Scholarships will be awarded to students whose parents or guardians are members of Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., but the student is a High School Senior enrolled in a school outside of the Cooperative service area.

| Continuing Scholarship |
A written request by the student may be submitted to the Board Administrative Committee upon the successful completion of each college/vocational school year for a like amount of the original scholarship. No essay is required. A copy of your transcript should accompany the request. Three scholarships will be awarded in this category.

| Helping Hand Scholarship |
The purpose of the Helping Hand Scholarship is to help a person who may not have received a high school scholarship from Fall River Electric, but wishes to attend college or vocational school for furthering their education. Three Scholarships will be awarded in this category.

- Need for financial assistance 40%
- Scholastic Achievement 30%
- Extra-Curricular Achievement 30%
- The Chairman will be a member of the Fall River Electric Board Administration Committee of the Cooperative or his or her designee.
- High School Principal or his or her designee
- Others may be appointed by the Fall River Electric Board Members
NOTE: In the event that sufficient funding becomes available, the Fall River Electric Cooperative Board of Directors may grant additional awards.

The Chairman will be a member of the Fall River Electric Board Administration Committee of the Cooperative or his or her designee, High School Principal or his or her designee, and others that may be appointed by the Fall River Electric Board Members.
